Dressing Kids Alike: Pros and Cons
In case you have two kids of the same gender, you probably faced a temptation to dress them alike, especially if age difference is not that big. There are no doubts that this is the simplest solution to the problem of not knowing how to dress your kids that bothers you every single day: you simply buy the same garments in different sizes and colors. However, your children might have different opinions.
Dressing Your Kids the Same Way
As I mentioned before, if your kids are 5 years old and younger, then it is probably appropriate to dress them alike. But, once at least one of them gets older, you would better stop practicing that as it appears ludicrous seeing a 2-year-old girl and her 10-year-old sister wearing similar floral-printed dresses.
Keep in mind that nobody wants to look identical with others, including kids that enter a teen age. Just imagine would you want seeing a woman in the same dress while attending a party? The same principle should work for your kids. Keep in mind that they are individuals with own preferences in clothes and different tastes. Thus it is essential not to block your child’s first attempts to form a personal style.
If you still want to demonstrate a kinship between your girls by dressing them alike, consider choosing outfits in the same style or color palette. However, it is important to ask your children’s opinion first – while your younger son might prefer strict lines and classy shades, an older one can be a fan of bright hues and rock and roll style.
